Can't delete protected files

first of all, thank you bill gates. i have a dual boot system. xp pro on one hard drive and what used to be windows7 on the other. i want to format the drive that had win7 on it but inserting the cd doesn't give me that option. it wants to keep the windows files that are on there but rename then windows0. so.... i booted to the xp drive and was hopeful that i could simply delete all the windows files from that drive while i'm using the other drive. no soap. doesn't matter whether i use Unlocker or whether i rename them. i tried command prompt typing in "Del windows" but it does nothing. how on earth can i control MY OWN computer???

get this live cd.. it wont bother about bitlocker or anything, just format every thing as you say

Disk management in Windows XP should be able to do this. Right click My computer and select Manage. Go down to Storage > Disk Management. Right click the drive with 7 and format it.

Another way to do this. While booted into Windows XP, double click My Computer. Right click the Windows 7 disk and select Format...

You should also be able to use the Windows XP or 7 disks to format the hard disk. Boot from the disk and start the installation, when you get to the point where you select your installation partition just delete/format the partition containing the Windows 7 intallation, exit out and reboot.

Utilizing the format command in the command prompt is another option.

what i did finally luck out doing was what you said about using command prompt, not to delete a folder but to format the entire disk, which i would have preferred not to do but it was ok. it took all night. problem solved. thanks
