Can't get any USB flash drives to work on my PC

As the title suggests, I can't get my pc to read any USB drives. I've tried two so far that defiantly work on other systems and just nothing. My mouse and keyboard work fine so what could be the problem?

Anyone got any suggestions?

What is the status of your sub ports in device manager?

Where can i find the sub ports the only menu i see is the ports

Should be able to click on the arrow to expand it. I believe if there was a problem, it would already be expanded however.

ok well when i click the arrow it drops down a communications port and a printer port both of which are working fine. Or so the device status says so. Its a new pc I've built and I've already had one of the usb sticks working in the machine.

Do you see universal serial bus controllers to expand that?

yeah. Theres a load of devices there. Im not sure which one is which. Anything specific im looking for?

Yes anything out of the ordinary. You would see it. laptop, desktop, front panel connection or directly to motherboard?

Im on a desktop and the usb drive is directly into the motherboard although it doesnt work plugged into the front panel either. Im not sure what you mean by out the of ordinary. It all looks ok, I've checked if they are all working properly which it says they are.

Out of the ordinary mean ! or yellow triangle. Can you move your mouse to a port that the flash drive does not work in and it works?

now I'm lost what do you mean? If i click and of the ports on device manager nothing works. Sorry if I sound clueless ha.

Put mouse in usb port where flash drive is not working. Does is still work...meaning the port itself works.

Now i do feel thick. Yeah I've just tried my mouse in all the ports it works fine. It just seems to be USB drives

control panel auto play, set to default. Do any of you flash drives have lights on them signifying if they are being read?

yeahh one of them has a red light on to say that it is being powered. But there is no removable drive in the pc area.

Sorry, i am out of ideas. I do this for a living so if you wish, download teamviewer give me you id and password and i can remote in. I understand if your are not comfortable doing that but i have not other ideas.

Ok. Not sure if your in the US but im in the UK and its getting kinda late over here. That sounds like a good idea because this is causing quite a problem so I'd like to get it sorted. Do you think you could have a look tomorrow?

Sure. Like I said i work for myself as a computer tech(in the us) and would love to help you. I don't punch a clock so my schedule is very flexible. just get back to me.
