I installed a new CPU: Intel Core i7-10700 on my PC and I can't get the integrated graphics to work for that CPU.
I have a RTX 3060 in the system, and that is the only GPU showing up. I tried downloading the latest Intel Driver ... https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...rocessor-graphics-windows.html?wapkw=i7 10700
it couldn't download. there was an error.
motherboard: B460M DS3H AC

Log doesn't help, Windows installs generic drivers anyway if igpu is enabled.

As said, gpu usually disables igpu. Remove graphics card and it should work. Some motherboard bios allows for simultaneous displays but not always.

No, for intel the igpu just needs to be connected to an output and it will show up in windows and will download a driver automatically.
It will default to showing the discreet one at bootup and not the iGPU but it will not disable it.
You can even connect it to a second input on the same monitor.

What do you mean an output? like just running an hdmi to back of Computer to another monitor ... and keeping the Nvidia GPU still attached to another monitor (attached to GPU)? Would that work?
or just run another hdmi cable to same monitor?
Also, checked in BIOS ... can't see where to enable iGPU ... on gigabyte bios.

yes, I believe the GPU is disabling the igpu. I took out 3060 and it installed the intel graphics drivers, etc. all worked great. I shut down and then installed 3060 back and have both plugged into same monitor... and RTX 3060 is now the only one showing up.
can't see where to inable igpu in bios.

Page 29 of online manual. Maybe internal graphics. Anyway, if setting to enable igpu is possible along with gpu it'll be there in settings -> IO Ports.

Initial Display Output
Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI Express graphics card or the
onboard graphics.
IGFX(Note) Sets the onboard graphics as the first display.
PCIe 1 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display. (Default)
& Internal Graphics
Enables or disables the onboard graphics function. (Default: Auto)

Try what @boju suggested

I have a Gigabyte BIOS and the setting is on auto. Both GPU and iGPU show up in device manager and task manager, and i have the option of choosing which one to use for each application. That is set to auto and 100% of the time chooses the GPU.

So effectively, my iGPU is never used but it does show up as a device and can be used should there be need.

Windows 11 btw.

Thanks, that was a big help. I set the internal graphics from "auto" to "enabled", and it shows up now. I tried the CSM support to enabled, and it went to PCIe 1 slot, and I saved, it didn't show up, so I just went back to disable CSM support and go with interal graphics to "enabled". I guess I need to tell it what to use for each program, right? do I get a whole list in graphics settings?

  2. PCIe 1 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display. (Default)
  3. PCIe 2 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX4 slot as the first display.
This item is configurable only when CSM Support is set to Enabled.

I set the internal graphics from "auto" to "enabled", and it shows up now. It still uses Nvidia 3060 most of the time from what I see in the task manager.
When deciding what program will use what gpu ... do I get a whole list in graphics settings? I only see of the apps.

This is how it looks like in System - Display - Graphics:

I haven't actually used it. Felt no need to force a game or application to run using the iGPU. But i guess i can.

As for graphical settings, the GPU will use Nvidia control panel settings, including game specific settings if you made any. The iGPU will use Intel graphics settings. It's been a while since i've fiddled with those but from memory, it's similar to Nvidia.
AMD GPUs or iGPUs would use AMD's drivers and settings, obviously.
I set the internal graphics from "auto" to "enabled", and it shows up now. It still uses Nvidia 3060 most of the time from what I see in the task manager.
Sometimes setting the iGPU to enabled instead of auto does the trick.

Windows will use by default the graphics card that is connected to the monitor you are using as the main monitor, that would be your nvidia card.
Your only option is to have the igpu connected to a monitor and turn that monitor into your main monitor.
Then use the setting that 35below0 shows to run your games and whatnot on the nvidia card.
