Can't go pass 4.3Ghz and crach

hi, everyone. I have a rampage extreme w/qx9650 and corsair ddr3 1600mhz...........I only on 4.2Ghz stable. my setup is watercooling and I try to hit 4.5Ghz+++ but can not do it. I need help how to setup. please any advise.

from what i've read on many forums, these chips have a fsb wall around 470 ish. you're at 466, so i'm not really surprised. 500fsb is pushing it wayy too hard, even with watercooling.

well 4.2-4.5 is only really going to affect your benchmarks, assumeing your runnind the 11.5 multi then you only need about 400fsb to get to 4.6, but this will require alot of volts ie 1.6+

look there and check out the wc ones, you will soon see that 4.5ghz is hard without extreme cooling.

CPUs vary alot, even the same models, lithography isn't an exact process, that's a pretty good overclock anyway... I'd be happy with it...

If you want to put ALOT of juice to it 1.6v-1.7v, go for it (no guarantee it will stick around too long):

Stick with 4.2 and be happy.

CONGRATS, now go buy yourself a QX9650 and do the same thing and let us know how it works out. It could last 10 years or 10 weeks, want to take that chance with a QX9650? If money is no object for you I'll PM you my address and you can send me one and I'll try it. 😀

4 months isn't tremendously long, especially if it wasn't full load most of the time. Try running a 45nm CPU for a year or two at that voltage though - bet it bites the dust before that time is up. When the CPU is only specified to run at 1.35V, 1.6 is really pushing it, as you are WAY over the voltage limit intel set for that CPU.
