Hello,

I have some DOS applications on my xp machine and I've tried to
capture the printer port and make it a persistent connection by typing
"net use lpt1 \\jackal\resv /persistent:yes". This worked for my
win2k machine, but on my xp box I get the error "You entered an
invalid value for the /persistent option". Also, I have the printer
as shared with the same name, so if anyone has ever ran into this
problem and fixed it please help me out.

Thanks

I've used this command extensively on XP Pro and it worked fine; the only
difference I see from your command line versus mine is I use
"/Persistent:YES", capitalizing the YES part. You might give that a try...

That's very strange. I tried several variations on the /persistent option
and they all worked OK.

/persistent:y
/persistent:yes
/persistent:Y
/persistent:YES

Also, with Windows XP, you may not need to "capture the printer port" at
all. See http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/printfromdos.htm.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
