Hi guys,

Got a new card for my system (980) and although the fans are spinning up, the computer won't POST or do anything! I have a 750w EVGA so don't think power is an issue.

I've only got an older 5770 to test with, but that works absolutely fine. I've drived updating my bios, driver cleaners, different PCI-E slots etc and nothing works.

Interestingly if I plug both in and boot off the 5770, I can see the new card in device manager but can't do much with it.

Any ideas what's causing this?

Oh my motherboard is ASRock x99 Extreme.

Any help much appreciated!

(it's not the system in my sig)

Theres a load of tutorials, but it's a metal looking circle shape on the motherboard, on the left or right there should be a little thing where you press down with a thumb to pop it out, if not, then you'd have to get a knife or something very thin to squeeze it out of the slot it's in, they're a pain, but also be VERY careful, it can break very easily, but you can get them for like £3.. maybe not even that haha!

As I said, loads of YouTube tutorials, heres one:

It could've saved the 5770 as the GPU and it won't change it, resetting the CMOS (battery on your motherboard) will reset the whole BIOS to it's default settings, so it won't have the 5770 settings on the BIOS anymore.

So resetting the CMOS should work.
