so im 17 just graduated out of high school. ready to start my life. now i built my first rig in 2012 when i was 14 and damn it was a piece of cake since ive been "fixing" the home computer since 10. in 1 week i have a+ cert classes and should be certified by november which is when ill be 18. so my question is what are the smart moves to pursue a career in an it that fixes a computer both hardware and software. no im not a programmer and dont wish to be one and no i dont plan on designing or making the new intel i10 cpu in a few years not until I am stable in life. so what would be the smart steps to make to maximize my salary both cert and college degree wise and yes like i said i have 4-5 years experience in my opinion :) thanks everyone

Please don't use Bump - it's against the Tom's Rules of Conduct.

Prepare your CV carefully and thoroughly and circulate it to local companies big enough to have an IT support department. Stress that you have some experience but want to start at the bottom and imply you'll be a long serving employee, even if you don't necessarily wish to be.

Enjoy your teenage years so don't sign up to a job with long hours and/or night shifts.Good luck.

sorry for the bump . will i have a stable living with the career i want to pursue as a hardware/software it/tech? whats the expected salary to be lets say after 5 years with a company. im in los angeles

I really can't even guess at that one. I'm in England and twelve years ago, I set up doing just that as a one-man-band but I don't have to make a pack of money because I'm 68, have everything I need and most of the things I want.

Hopefully someone in LA could give you a clue but if you have newspaper ads and job agencies out your way, you ight find some clues.
