Hello all,
I'm currently running a single channel memory module from Kingston. The memory currently installed is in a single channel config and the manufacturer number is Kingston Hyper-X Savage HX316C9SR/8.
Now I'm looking to purchase another dimm module which is also a Kingston Hyper-X Savage. And now for the question.
The current 8 Gig module vs the one I want to purchase is not the same model number. The one 1 want to purchase is Kingston HyperX FURY HX316C10FR/8
I've looked at both spec sheets and the only difference I could see is that the HX316C9SR/8 has CAS latency of 9-9-9 @ 1.5V (and has an XMP profile which the other does not) and the HX316C10FR/8 has a CAS latency of 10-10-10 @ 1.5V. Will I run into compatibility issues if I pair the 2 modules together? PS....As I understand it the module with the better CAS rating will be forced to 10-10-10 CAS rating.
Price difference is about $30 ( HX316C10FR/8 vs HX316C9SR/8 )
Thanks for the help!
