Anybody know how to connect 12volt led lights to a computer system? I researched and found that fans run at 12v and usb's run at 5volts. Anyone know how safe it is to connect led lights to a fan header? I have the ebay part number that i got the lights from: the Item # is : 181228195719.
Thanks guys! Love this community!

for 12v you'll have to connect it to the 4pin molex(the common power conn for hdds & non-pwm fans). if your light has no 4pin molex connector you could just hotwire the cables to the correct pin inside the 4pin molex. try googling the layout of 4pin molex to find the right pin to hotwire since 4pin molex has 2 voltages 5v and 12v.

the wires in 4pin usually color coded to red black black yellow.

red=+5v . black=gnd(-) . black=gnd(-) . yellow=+12v

so if you want 12v connect the positive cables of your light to the yellow and connect the negative to one of the black ground cables.
