Case & PSU for Xfire Rig?

I am building a new crossfire tri-monitor rig, and pushing it with dual 6950s.

In my old rig, I have a 4 year old corsair h1000x PSU, in a Enormous!!! CM Cosmos case.

I'm a little weary of using the 1000, not sure how it'll hold up after 4 years? And the case I have now is way too big, and loud!

Any suggestions on a PSU and quiet case ( no Watercooling) for this setup?

Budget right now, is around $300 for both. Trying to get around 2500$ total + 3 24" monitors.

The HX1000 should still be doing quite well, and has more than enough for dual 6950s, i would stick with that as long as its massive size isnt causing you issues.

For the case you want something smaller than the cosmo? Do you want it shorter in height, less deep or both? Also, do you want something with LEDs and fans visible or a sleek black box?

Something smaller than the cosmos would be great, not sure if I can fit those two gpus into a mid case? Don't care much about LEDs etc, as long as it's got enough venting and isn't too loud.

I'm not sure if it's the case, fans or the fact my old mb can't control the case fan speeds, hence I bought an external fan controller. If I could reduce the noise, the size wouldn't bother me as much, if I can recycle the PSU the case could stay too. I can hear the fans from 3 rooms over. It's really loud.

Money isnt a huge deal, but Im a practical kinda person.

Definitely no need to change PSU, at least not for a 'lack of power', if you're going to be replace it, it will have to be for another reason.

How long are the 6950s you are buying? There are plenty of mid tower cases that can fit the length of some 6950s, but it depends on the length of the cards.

The cards are pretty long, so I'm afraid of doing a mid Tower...

If I go to a full tower, I mine as well keep the cosmos. How many fans is enough? Maybe 2 200s and 2 120s or 140s? Maybe if I do the 200s it'll make the box quiet enough? I imagine it's a fan issue not a case issue?

Haven't built a rig in forever, this last one was prebuilt. Sorry for stupid questions.

cooling is fine if you got least 4 fans in that case
hx 1000 enough for 3 6950's
