So basically I have 1 cat5 point wired in cat5 cable and have soured this of 1st cat5 point which is fed from my rooter. Works at 1st point but not at 2nd I have tested cable all ok just can't get hard wired signal at 2nd spur help!!!!

I have a cat5 socket in wall plate. Which is fed by my router which then goes to another cat5 point plate which then goes to another cat5 point were I want my t.v but isn't giving me a wired logo on my smart t.v 1st and 2nd cat5 points work just the 3rd cable test out fine. Doing my head in and my builder.

Picture this router which then feeds into cat5 plate ( Ethernet cable) out of cat5 plate into another then another all fed with cat5 cable. Just can't get my 3rd spur to work

So from the router to the eventual endpoint, it feeds one device? And there are multiple junctions and cables along the way?

If that is the case, one of the plates is not wired correctly.

If you're only running one cable, you can't run more than one connection through it.

From my router into my 1st cat5 point? There's nothing plugged into other cat5 points just 3rd spur were t.v is? But won't work as you say. But if I plug in to my 2nd point on other side of room works fine but I don't want my t.v there. Thanks for this help as my builder and electrician are at a loss!

What's the length of the cable? 100m / 300ft is the max length of a CAT 5 cable.

Without knowing how they wired it, it is hard to diagnose from out here.
But visualize this:
Disregarding any junctions/plates/spurs/whatever....is there a single straight line from the TV to a single port on the router? And nothing else connected to that same port on the router?

Well this is what my electrician can't find out he's saying and showed me all looks perfect?, but yeh router into 1st cat5 fed with Ethernet cable then on2 2nd cat5 point then onto 3rd. 3rd 1 ain't working but works on 1st and 2nd and no other devices plugged in!

We are talking from router to 1st point 1ft from 1st point to 2nd 12ft from 2nd to 3rd 15ft

Router --> 3rd point

Looks perfect and is perfect can be two different things.

I'm still a littl 'confused'
What do you mean by 2nd Cat5 point and 3rd Cat5 point?

For a residence, generally what happens is a star configuration. All Cat5 from the various rooms terminate at a common point. That is fed by a patch panel, and/or a switch if necessary. And then to the router.

1 to 2 to 3 doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me.

Router is in cupboard were phone line comes in. We're 1st point cat5 point was wired then spurs 2 more cat5 point to were my t.v is then t.v plugs into 3rd cat 5 port but nothing happening plug into 2nd on other side of room works like a dream but don't want my t.v there

I have 3 wall plates which are cat 5 points? Or Ethernet connection point? Each wall plate loops in and out of each other

I would suspect that 3rd Cat5 port is wired incorrectly. It is easy to do. Has the electrician used a cable tester?

Yeh but kind of my fault as room was already plastered and changed my mind last miniute so can't blame them. But if the 1st to work surely the 3rd should?

Yes and all the lights glow up 1 to 8 to say cables fine? The only thing I can think of is faulty cat5 point?

This isn't how you should wire the building, and it's bad on the electrician who did this, even if you changed your mind. The first point is a "clean point", it should work if the electrician can properly wire a cable. The second and third are "dirty points", poor splicing, improper wiring, all could be reasons for the third point to fail.

Well, something is faulty.

As I say couldn't blame him as it was already plastered and he spurred 1 of the original 1 which went straight back to rooter! He tried loads different solutions making cat5 two point just a joint box so went straight to cat5 3 point but no joy

Exactly. Each room should be one and only one physical wire back to a common point.
