so I need a 20ft ethernet cable and i was wondering if cat5 or cat7 was the way to go(cat5 is cheaper so I was wondering what the benefits of getting the cat7 are)
nothing for a short run inside a home. cat 7 has more twists per inch and so cancels out more crosstalk/noise and is thus able to run longer distances and at higher speeds in the future. Your home router will be lucky to support 1Gb, much less 10+Gb so cat 5e is fine.
