I've installed 11.2 twice now, upgrading from 10.12 one, and naturally from 11.1a twice. I've experienced a major FPS decrease in WoW, SC2, and Medal of Honor.. I've also experienced problems with the HDMI sound. All times I did a safe boot driver sweep, along with a clean installation of all ATI software and drivers. 11.2 is a no-go for me, and I'm running a Diamond 5870 @ 1GB GDDR5 native clocks.

I'm going to try this disable/re-enable trick tonight. When I tried 11.2 initially, the framerates seemed like I lost one of my cards. I'll try this and see if it works. Anyone know if there's an 11.2a out there yet? 😉

I am using MSI afterburner to monitor my cards and I noticed one was not being tasked. After this little trick all is well.

11.2 are actually some decent drivers now if AMD would get off of their ass and create some PLP support.

OK. Using the trick, here are my observations:

1) I still have the HDMI/DP Audio install failure. :??:
2) My framerates did stay the same rather than get a lot worse. :)
3) New problem has arisen after a session of MOH... Observing each card in GPUz...While GPU1 acts normally with minimal activity in Windows, GPU2 is pegged at 100%GPU activity(???), and GPU3 goes idle (as expected). 😱

GPU2 is still showing 100% activity in GPUz. So I guess now I have the CPU@100% issue that others have mentioned.

Images following play:

I had just finished playing when I took the images. Framerates on MOH right around 140 average. Even now, GPU-z is showing GPU2 at 100% load. The fan is spinning 2krpm+. Nuts.

I'm going to switch back to 11.1a. At least February's a short month and we should expect March 11.3 to be better? 😗

I had to revert back to 10.5 drivers for my crossfire setup to see true FPS.

I did install 11.12 and my frames still down. Should i disable Xfire then Enable it ?
while on the new drivers?...will that work

Haven't upgraded to 11.2 on my single 6870 but it ran just fine on the previous driver...

However, I am more or less trying to figure this little issue out.....Can someone please advise on if the 11.2 drivers are good for 6870 crossfire?? (I Just got a second 6870 today and so its time to re-do the drivers). I see mixed opinions on this thread so can someone clarify, what is the best current driver for 6870 (or any) crossfire setup, whether it is 11.X or 10.X it does not matter, whatever is best, just let me know what is the most stable please... I realize there might not be one straightforward answer depending on different configurations but if someone could establish some basics facts towards that predicament, that would be fantastic.

also can anyone advise on what program to use to clean the drivers completely out prior to re-installation.... ?

I've tried driver sweeper and it seems to work like crap...

I've never used anything but driver sweeper. It seemed to work OK for me.

The 11.1a drivers are the ones to try if you don't like the performance you get from 11.2. You can try 11.2 and if you find issues with it, just do the express uninstall, reboot, driver sweeper, reboot, re-install procedure and you can try 11.1a.

I've done it many times over the last few weeks to compare framerates and performance, in general, with my 3 5850s.

Sadly, I must say I've given up on the AMD driver drama (the 5850s are great though!), pulled out the 5850s, and installed a GTX 580.

Which version of drive sweeper are you running? On Guru3d page they are only offering version 2.1, but i have found up to 2.8.5

Up till a month ago i was using the 10.7 drivers. I've updated, but it still shows 10.7 as the catalyst version, but 8.82.2 as the Driver Packaging Version, which is 11.1a.

Just wondering if drive sweeper is not finding all the ATI files.

One other thing, i'm still experiencing the wake from sleep "freeze" and I am running 11.1a with two 5870s

I use driver sweeper version 2.8.5. To tell you the truth, I only had to do the 'express uninstall' prior to version 11.1.

Since the drivers never seemed to fully install (video was fine/ HDMI/DP audio failed), I started using this additional Driver Sweeper step because of what was suggested in the AMD forums. Since 11.1 (completely failed to install on my setup), and 11.1a, I used the driver sweeper step with the 5850s and wondered why AMD didn't just start bundling this with their driver updates.

After my recent experience with the 11.x drivers, I tend to this if the new driver doesn't install after the uninstall with 'express uninstall' through the catalyst installation manager, the latest and greatest driver still has issues. That wake from sleep issue cleared up for me with 11.1a (maybe because I had 3 cards? Who knows?).

That's strange regarding the catalyst version though.

Again, great video cards can't stay great if the driver team doesn't maintain and update the drivers for its customers. The driver drama alone is why I retired my 5850s yesterday. They are great cards, but if we as customers aren't getting support from the driver team, as far as I'm concerned, it's no longer worth the hassle. Maybe I'm just too old and crotchety?

I think it must be the drivers, because I haven't had this happen in a looong time, but when I try overclocking my cards (to run a Vantage score for comparison at my highest clocks) it locks up and crashes my PC. Only when I set the OC on the 2nd card tho, the first one is fine. I remember something like this happened a long time ago, but I'm definitely thinking I'd like to go back to maybe 10.10 or so which seemed like pretty good drivers.

Don't know if this will help with those running 64bit systems, but with 11.2 in both XP 32 and Vista 32bit I had to install the normal "Catalyst Software suite" then install "Catalyst Software Suite with APP removed (32bit) English Only" to get CF working properly on my 5970.

Rolled back to 10.10(again). It's been 4 months since I revert back to 10.10 because of 3 main reasons
1)No way to disable Catalyst AI
2)99% GPU usage even in 2D mode
3)In 11.2, my 2D speeds are 400/1000(which should be 157/300) resulting in higher idle temps.
