CD/DVD getting hot

How much heat can a CD- or DVD-ROM take? If I watch an hour long DVD film, it gets pretty warm.

As long as it isn't hot to the touch!

Of course, it's better that the discs kept at a mild temperature, but some devices do heat it up quite a bit.
