CD-Rom no longer reading game cd

Hi. I put a typing game in the DVD-Rom for my daughter but when the opening page for the game opens and i prees play it's always telling me to insert the CD into the CD-Rom. Can someone please help me?

Do other discs work?

If not, do you have an extra cd drive around to try in the pc?

I would think that the drive is simply dying and that is why its give read errors like that. It happens more frequently then people think. I have had many drives that work one day, the next you turn the computer on to read a DVD and it just can't do it anymore. Try another drive if possible or try he disc in another machine. Ensure it's not the disc. Discs can corrupt. It is rare, but it can happen.

Is it a DVD or CD?

Is it a DVD-rom or a CD-rom, you seem to contradict yourself. A CD-Rom will not read a DVD....

How old is the drive? Might need to be replaced. DVD drives shouldn't cost more that $40 though

Cd-roms don't read dvd's, you need a dvd-rom to read dvd's.
