CDDrive not recognised

Toshiba Satellite Pro 420 CDT O/S Win95. CD Drive being recognised by Windows and command within dos but is not recognised if PC booted directly into DOS. Came across this article which I thought might be relevant https://support.toshiba.com/support/viewContentDetail?contentId=457613 but have been unable to find a download for "m500cdld.exe" Any help would be appreciated. yes because dos does not have device drivers you have to load a driver before a cd drive will work. (ahh the good old days of windows 3.11) so you will need to find a way to load a cdrom driver before you can use your cd drive in dos only

Thanks for that - would the XP driver be the one to download as I don't see a Win95 option ?

It says "MS-DOS IDE CD-ROM driver"
So i'd assume its what you need to use the drive in DOS
