Question Dell Inspiron Power Jack Compatibility

Have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with a broken power jack. Also have a dead Dell Inspiron 15r-5521. Will the power jack and cable from the 15r-5521 work in the 15 7000?

I get how to search for something like this on the web, but all I got was folks wanting to sell without compatibility info (buy the wrong one, and it's too much of a pain to return/refund, so try another... wash and repeat).

Thanks for your time and expertise.

No they wont. Look up both parts and you'll see the wiring is different. if you're able to disassemble the Dell Inspiron 15 7000, you can find the part number on the adapter/harness for the laptop and then order that part off Ebay or from here;

Thank you. Just getting to the jack requires disassembling the entire computer, so am happy to get the answer without going through that nightmare.

Off to buy the correct jack.

Dern... could have used that coin for beverages...

OK... I'm back. I swear I'm not trying to get someone else to do the work for me, but please, could I get a link to the correct jack for a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 P65F001 (i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz)?

I am very much not wanting to take apart my Wife's computer (that does run if plugged in (just doesn't charge)), risking breaking it just for a part number, plus the down time while waiting for the jack to be delivered. We are not rich folk who can buy a $1000+ computer if something goes wrong. Not sure how things would go trying to go back to mailing a hand written letter with a check just to pay a bill (we're in our sixties, so I know it was done, but not sure if it even could be done the old way now).

My wife has Dell Inspiron 15 7000 P65F001 (i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz). Dell's online SupportAssist claims that she has a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567. Either way, with this computer being as outdated as we are, I'm having real trouble finding the correct power jack, without tearing her still sort-of working computer apart just to find the printed number on it (at worst, I'd kill it, and never be able to replace it; at best she would be without a computer (her only form of entertainment) for a month... maybe longer).

Could someone please post a link to the correct power jack?

I don't dispute you have a broken power jack. But question if it runs without battery the jack is at least working.

Even if you do replace the power jack what is the age and condition of battery.

Also are the contacts on the battery and the contacts on the laptop clean AKA shiny for good charging.

Already replaced the battery with a known good one (from my laptop). The tiny plastic collar thingy that holds the contacts in place in the jack has broken off, never to be found. My love can be a bit careless when it comes to delicate electronics, though if you ever tell her I said that, I'll deny it, then come lookin' fer you.

Really. It is broken. The only reason it runs with the adapter in, but still does not charge, is magic.
