I recently switched from TWC internet to CenturyLink's 100 mbps fiber service which is new to my area. I also now have their Prism TV service. Since it was installed, the max speed that we have gotten via wifi is 35 mbps and this was when I was sitting directly in front of the router/modem. The equipment that was given to us is the Technicolor C2000T. When I connect directly to the modem, I get 100 mbps. Any ideas what the problem might be? They have already switched out my modem once. I have also checked for firmware updates and changed the channel that it was originally on.

Solution
centurylink - cLink the WiFi sucks in this model and cLink will not address it or fix it!

settings in Wireless Setup / Radio Setup, item 3 set it to 802.11n Only

Current Firmware Version: CTH003-4.12.0.100

I have a dLink 655 router/WiFi and I connect 270 - 300 mbps all day long
switch to cLink and best it can deliver is a lousy 144 mbps

All this help about connecting to speedTest sites is a bunch of baloney! it has nothing to do with the WiFi in your house!

Thanks for your response. I don't think that that is the issue. I am running a Lenovo G50-45 laptop which definitely has wireless N built in. Any and all of our 12+ devices run this slowly. When the installer was here he couldn't get fast speeds either.

Sounds like they might have you on the 40mb/s plan then or your 100mb/s is split between internet and tv data.
Check the modem speed rates with a wired pc and all wireless devices and phones disconnected.
1. Open up a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox.
2. In the address bar type http://192.168.0.1*, then hit enter on your keyboard.
3. Select Modem status and locate the rate (Downstream/Download or Upstream/Upload). If you don't see Modem status, skip to the next step.
4. Are your speeds less than 70mb/s download or above

If still 70mb/s or less then they suggest something about following their filter install tutorial:
http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/wired-setup-filters.html

With a speeds test of less than 100% we encourage customers with:
Land-line phone service with CenturyLink, use the Filter Installation tutorial
No land-line phone service with CenturyLink (Pure Broadband, stand-alone DSL, Internet without dial-tone), try another phone jack in the house repeat the Slow Speeds tutorial. If you need further assistance, go to the CenturyLink Chat Page and select Internet (Tech) Support.

Ok. I connected directly to the C2000T again and when I click on "modem" it says that both my downstream and upstream rates are 1000 mbps. However, when I run the speedtest while directly connected I get 100 mbps down and 50 mbps up (I pay for 100 mbps). The router just doesn't seem to push out the signal well. As I mentioned before, I only get about 35 mbps wirelessly sitting IN FRONT OF the router. Just can't figure it out.

The modem is terrible. I ended up having to hard wire 2 computers and run the wifi through my old western figural router. I get 50mbps+ upstairs now. It's definitely Century Link's hardware that is the problem.

It increased mine to 125 mb wifi from 35 mb wifi and i get 160 mb direct connect.

100mbps is accurate for a hardline (plugged in) connection to the ethernet port on the gateway, your slower wifi speeds is due to the fact wifi will always have latency and drag so 35 is actually pretty good. Your 100mbps speed via ethernet matched your Century Link 100mbps speeds you purchase from them. Best bet to get a better wifi speed is either request their dual band C2100T gateway or get your own dual band router and disable the wifi on theirs.
