I have been stuck on the last step of installing windows 7 professional for 2 days. I know the window.Old folder has been deleted, so Im at a loss as to what to do here.

  • Unplug everything extra (USB drives, external HDDs, printer, etc.) and only keep keyboard/mouse while installing.
  • Go into BIOS and set the SATA mode to AHCI if it isn’t already. Sometimes “IDE/RAID” causes freezes.
  • If you’re installing from a USB, try recreating the installer with Rufus or use a different USB port.
  • Remove extra RAM sticks (just leave one) during install weirdly this sometimes fixes Windows 7 freeze issues.
  • Make sure your HDD/SSD is healthy. If possible, run a quick test on it.
  • Also, Microsoft has a full step-by-step guide here:
