Change my antenna?

I live in a place where the nearest cell tower is quite far.
Using the antenna right now, I'm getting abour 3-4 bars of signal in my router and get speeds of 2-4mbps in the morning and 17-22mbps in the night. My antenna right now is just an omni directional mimo antenna with 9dbi cos i got it pretty cheap.
Would upgrading to a 27dbi Yagi directional antenna help me in getting higher speeds? or will my signal just max out and speeds still remain the same?
Sorry for asking, i really cannot find a solid answer anywhere in the internet. :<

Yes the directional antenna should help you quite a bit. If anything you may get the same signal during the day that you got at night before.

so the dbi does have something to do with the speed? not just the coverage?

It has to do with receiving the signal. During the day the solar radiation makes interference. If you have a directional antenna, you're going to be receiving the signal that much better.
