Changing motherboard hp pavilion p6733w help!

I just bought the motherboard asus m5a78l-m usb3.0 but i cant seem to locate the cable to connect my turn on button ... Its the one with 9 pins or something and idk where to put it dnt plug it? My pc wont turn on when i press the button ... Everything else is setup right

If the wires from the case's front panel weren't marked and you didn't think to hand-mark them yourself, you are going to have to trace the wires back to their point of origin by hand.
Do you have a volt-ohm meter or some kind of continuity tester?

I totally inderstand that but my power connecter is a 9 pins cable and theres no spot there for it ... Either hp pavilion p6733w dnt support asus m5a78l-m usb3.0 or im blind asfuck

Maybe it would be best to post a pic here in the forum. It's beginning to sound like HP used a proprietary connector/header on their OEM board.

Is this your situation with the old board?

Hi, I am having the same problem. I did a build from my hp-p6754y. I replaced the board with a Asus M5A78L-M/usb3.
There is a 9 pin plug coming from the on/off switch with nowhere to plug it into the Asus. There was a 9 pin plug on the hp. Everything else connected up fine.....Help...Please

This is a common problem with OEM proprietary cases/boards when you try to match them to retail components. The HP case uses a common connector that plugs into a header on the m/b for all the FP wiring. Makes it fast and easy on the assembly line. Maybe something like this will help you go between the HP 9-pin connector and the board's header.

Ok, Just another scenario here. I have the new Asus motherboard, power supply, etc. Say that I purchased a new case for the built. Will this solve the problem? Where will the power source to the board come in?...Thanks...

Maybe I didn't understand your question correctly. Can you post a picture of the case's front panel wiring connector(s)?

Yes, a new retail case will have the proper FP connections for a retail board.
