"Rumors of espionage are completely false". Limnos Island is a strategic Hellenic island where Turkish spies (usually originating from EU countries) traditionaly try to obtain information.

When two guys with maps about paths, infitrate into crucial military facilities, my question is "WTF did they though it would happen?". If they had tried this on other countries, they would be probably dead by now. And imho, if you don't respect the law of the country you're visiting, get prepared for the consequences, either if you are a spy or not.

Its kind of funny how the goverment even cares. Greece is an irrelevant country and their army is laughable. Just like most of europes countries. Whats the worst case scenario? Greece pays its debts? :D

"oh yeah boy im gonna spy some greece army yeah serious information"

Actually if they did this in the US, they would probably be fine as long as the facility did not require a high level of secret clearance. We have tourists going into US military bases all the time with detailed maps taking thousands of photos. In secret clearance facilities they are well signed as cannot enter or will be shot and are usually in the middle of nowhere where you can spot someone a mile out.

Greece has the biggest active military per capita in Europe, the biggest %GDP spending on military in Europe and 20th in the world for a country smaller than California. So no, their army is not laughable, one could say they take things too seriously. I've read that they had visited the island 2 times already in the past, got photos/videos and no-one bothered them. It seams third time's a charm.

What would have happened if the same thing would have taken place in the states? Do you think they would even be allowed a lawyer under the patriot act?

It's a bit different when they're literally bankrupt while every other EU country has taken military budget cuts. Greece keeps on spending when they don't have anything to spend. It's no wonder they have so much unrest there.

[citation][nom]teodoreh[/nom]I was curious of how many msecs would pass since an idiot would bring economy on the matter, without even knowing basic facts. HAF is in the To20 biggest air forces in the world. Get ur facts straight before writiting an embarrising comment you idiot..[/citation]
Actually they are 26th with 773 total aircraft (just 72 more than Iraq) US Air force has 16,253 just in the Air Force Branch alone, Marines/Navy have more aircraft than the Air force.

As far as Total ACTIVE Military they are 29th with 177,600 active military (280k reserves) with the 5th largest active military per capita at 16.5% per 1000 people.

So yes, as far as world militaries go, they are insignificant to most countries like China, USA, Koran and India. Greece has no innovations of their own. They are a consumer country.

Please write down ur nationality because you're so clueless. Belgium and Nederland have no military threat so it's very natural to cut their budget, although they violate the NATO agreements. Greece has a Turkey on the other side, a Turkey that invaded and occupied half of Cyprus island. And Greece actually made huge cuts on every part of its economy, army included. But I guess you already know that - somehow.. God...

Yeah and Greece can't afford the army either, much in the same situation in the US really. Both country's loans/capita vs income/capita proves it!

Go ahead and vote the post down if you like, it will only proves how ignorant some people are.

Greece is a consumer country like every Western country. Most of the stuff we all eat or use was produced on countries like China. Innovation is a general term. Intracom, EAB or ELMON doesn't innovate? I guess not in the size of LM or Boeing, but still..

Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dassault_nEUROn

[citation][nom]TheCapulet[/nom]Way to read the article, or have a clue at all. They were never inside any military bases, but instead literally just driving down the main highway. And they were arrested a day later in some village.[/citation]

Authorities haven't given much details about the arrest. But independed military sites give a different story:

http://www.defencenet.gr/defence/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53697&Itemid=139

NV cameras aren't the tourist's No1 pick, isn't it?

Couldn't the have just use Google Earth to get a basic idea for a game development scenario....
I think that would have been a lot more safer and cheaper and yet keep in pace with the authenticity of the whole thing....

Like we said sometime earlier in some other article.... there ain't no dearth of them.....

Your example is a french company and a product that is jointly created with 6 other countries.

ELMON? The Tactical Gear maker? That's like comparing it's ingenuity to US's Baskin Robbin 99 flavors of Ice Creme

Whether they were there as tourists or not, the Greek Law prohibits any kind of recording visual footage of military bases. And it shouldn't make an exception here, even if the final product can prove to provide some good publicity for Lemnos island and Greece altogether. We're not dealing with monasteries and cemeteries of Meteora like in Sanctuary of MW3, but military bases. And yes, every country has the duty to take such issues seriously.

the problem is Greece has become a 3rd world country, all the government that got voted in from reactionary politics, has opened the door to dictatorships. and its sad, and these people will be held as collateral to get the other countries to approve a new bailout for greece!

well, can you blame them?

i mean, com'on. if Bohemia Interactive really wanted to do something like that in a proper way, wouldn't a simple QUESTION to the Greek government for a permit be enough?

it's really funny though. yes, Greece is in a really bad economic situation. yes, it's a smaller country than California state (like we do give a sh!t about americans who destroy so many countries one way or another. take a look at the "confessions of an economic hitman" documentary...)

but they ARE a country in which all you americans rush yearly to visit it's islands and swim at it's beaches.
and all over the world Greece is known for far more good things than bad (*couch* american wars *cough*) and so on. the list is huge.

the other guy says that he doesn't trust the Greek media (like every other country's media is trustworthy.....! take a look at CNN mate and compare the news the american and international channel cast...)

and i cannot even think what would the US government do to them if they were caught doing something like that in the US. we all know what they are capable of in the name of the "war against terrorism".

keep your minds in place and learn a thing or two of what's going on outside your country. learn some history, try and have the ability to understand who is good and who isn't.

just because Greece is in a bad economic situation, doesn't take their right to be equal with all other countries.

be reasonable and stop saying stupid things just to make some impression and get a "like" in your post.

and something else.. about the game being pushed back on it's release date..... well, don't you guys have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many war games to play? really? a new war game will make such a difference?

GEE.......!
