Unless you manage to sell your current tablet for close to what you paid for and do not mind buying a no-name tablet, you are only going to save about $100 from downgrading. It might not be worth the hassle.
There is no shortage of ~$100 tablets that should be good enough for general web usage. If you want something "not crappy" though, the bar raises to $200 which buys you only marginally better specs for brand-name tablets.
For higher performance stuff, you have to open your wallet another $100 wider for the ~$300 K1-based Shield Tab. Beyond that, the bang-per-buck drops off a cliff.
