Checking media presence....... No media present....... after bios update

My laptop is an MSI GL72 6QD
After I boot my pc up it tells me that it's checking media presence and then it blinks a couple times saying no media present, then it goes to bios automatically. Feel free to ask me questions or tell me to show pictures of my bios settings!! I had hard work saved in my desktop so this is really urgent!

Reconfigure the BIOS settings. The BIOS update may have reset the settings. Make sure the hdd/ssd is the bootdisk

Yeah um, I don't know what happened, but I brought it to my friend who is good at computers. I'm guessing he had a backup/recovery cd, my drives were all empty.
