Checking system specs and possibly better options-

Hey guys, sorry to be cluttering up your forum with something I'm sure you don't want to look at but I am in need of as much help as I can get. I'm trying to build a gaming computer for the newest games like battlefield3, the call of duties, guild wars... Stuff like that. But, I am mainly building it to play Planetside2, apparently an intel sided game. Let me break it down-

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: Week of Christmas, but not worried about getting special christmas sales.

Budget Range: About 1300$ after shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important:Gaming mainly, youtube.... gaming.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, but it will probably just be an asus

Parts to Upgrade: I don't know how much upgrading I want to do in the first few years of having it so that is kind of low on my list...

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, hopefully one that comes with the processor or something

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, unless better deals on an equally reliable website can be had

Location: Oneida, New York, 13421. Great place.

Parts Preferences: I personally like intel... but I don't know why

Overclocking: no, probably not

SLI or Crossfire: ehh again probably not

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 i think...

Additional Comments: I don't require a lot besides the players the run youtube and some simple chat programs... This is fully going to be a gaming computer.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:I am sick of not ever having a computer that can run the games I buy. I have a stack here in my house and a ton of poorly performing games on my steam account. I want to play planetside2, after playing the first with its multi-thousand player battles.

These parts are all completely changable but this is the best I could do on my own; and I know almost nothing of making these creatures of plastic and wire...

I'm not sure what the differences are but if everything functions together better I'm all for it... I've also been told to pick a better brand power unit?... I'm lost in the ocean of information with no rosetta stone ;~;

Please do zed! and ill add that mobo to the list. I'm not sure what makes it better but if you say so... you're basically leading around a blind horse so...

Edit- also i know you're already sick of me but does anyone know if this will come with windows or will i have to buy the OS separate..

I think ill be going with the mother board in the revised list but I don't plan on overclocking or anything like that...
And perhaps a new case? I know the other one is kind of crummy as it is plastic or somesuch... opinions greatly valued!

edit- I know you guys have those 'build a budget gamer' threads and stuff stuck at the top, but there are so many of them I have no idea what im looking at... if someone posts a better build that they know can play everything for a thousand dollars... please post. I agree with Zed's choice of motherboard. The Extreme 6 is good but you're really paying an extra $40 for a front USB plate. However I'd switch out that case - Apevia cases are absolute crap. I had one - the temperature gage never gave correct readings and the front USB ports shattered and the LED lights fell off. Not to mention extremely poor build quality and construction. Yeah that will be a far better choice than some cheapo Apevia garbage. Them and Raidmax are two brands I always steer people away from.

Okay, so you all have been very helpful, and I think i've got the build figured out.
My last question is in reguard to a ssd... do you think 240 would be enough? or should i keep with my hdd?1tb?... 1tb sounds like a lot more than 240gb...

The SSD is meant to be a complement to the mechanical drive, not a replacement for it. Most people just load OS and a few main programs on the SSD and then everything else on the HD.

Thanks for all your help g-unit; just one last question... Do I still need to buy a copy of windows to put on this? Or will it come with it? I'm assuming all the other drivers will be there but.... do i need to buy the OS still?
