"Mom!!!!!! Where is my Grand Theft Auto 4 video game?!?"
"The Police came in and confiscated it son. They are making a crack down on anything gang related"
"Damn now i gotta go get it on Mininova or Piratebay"

China isn't a communist nation anymore, they are ultra-capitalist. Their people are resources to be exploited and then discarded when they are no longer useful. Having the people think for themselves is an obstacle for the government, that's why they're censoring everything. Once the money stops flowing there will you see any real change.

Na... in the US.. only the Blizzard will freak out.
It is the players in China will freak out. Just think about how many people are playing WoW in China each day (not sure it is true or not... a website said there are more than a million WoW players located in China).

Woah..Chinese government keep banning stuff. What are they up to?

It will be a terrible mistake if they ban WoW.

All I can say is: Meh.
The Chinese government will continue to repress and isolate its people from the liberties and freedoms enjoyed by the outside world. I say, "let them." We all know whose backs are going to be up against the wall when the revolution comes. And it will come. One can only apply so much pressure on a balloon before it pops. The only problem now is the state restricting information and re-writing history all for the convenience of the ruling elite. Brainwashing an entire nation only works for so long before it back-fires. At some point, China will piss off enough foreign countries that it will become completely isolated, and its people will start looking for answers. I can't even pity those who are truly responsible by then; their fate is their own doing.

[citation][nom]pharge[/nom]Let's try an experiment.1)Name our top 10 games of 2008 or 2009.2)Count how many of them which do not invlove any form of killing and destruction.hmm... is that answer very surprising?[/citation]
your quite right, but ya know, thats what sells. humans are just naturally violent and thrive on it

Hey its me Tony. Me and the Don gonna go play an illegal copy of grand theft auto 4 in our apartment in Beijing. Tell Leo and Mama they can come if they want. No guns this time ... plz

demonhorde665:

Artistic freedom should be protected and yes there are a lot of ways to incorporate violence in to games without crossing the lines i wrote about before.
Would you call manhunt art ?, or say its not that violent ?, would you even stop to think for a moment that it might be bad for people to play a game like that ?

Yes if you start talking final fantasy world of warcraft command and conquer starcraft and even games as halo farcry and such are violent but those are less explicit and you dont get bonus point for creating the biggest pandemonium of gore in the shortest time.

In multiplayer online games that thrive on who can be the biggest bad guy the goal is just that being bad!

PS: I am a member of the socialistic party here and yes we left-wing intellectuals do believe in freedom for the arts.
Worse i am all for playing games i just dont like walking in my town hearing people speak about how they went out with their 14 y/o de-virgin-ised bitch for the week got fucking wasted and knocked out a geek that looked the wrong way.

I dont think i ever called a girl my whore ho or bitch and i dont think any one did till they saw the rappers on mtv doing it.
It is fact that my generation accepted some things that where frowned upon and so did the generation after and all the way to the kids today ... if we keep spiraling in to decay this fast there will soon no longer be art to protect.
The further we spiral down the faster it will go ... so slowing it down by banning things like games created around violence in stead of a story line is a good thing even if it helps only a little.

"neo nazi right wing conservative grade-A bull shit"
Somebody's FISHING for a flame fest. If you were trying to make a legitimate point, Demonhorde, you'd avoid inflamitory statements like that. Instead, you're FISHING for a nasty response. Nice preliminary attack, like a Loaded-question that pretends to be innocent and neutral.

hemelskonijn, the more liberal society becomes, the more "bitch" and "ho" you'll see. It was the liberalization of society that enable these words. Censorship is a bad thing, but it's the freedom that a "liberal" society brings that will INEVITABLY make sure the Crass, Sarcrastic, and often Crude will always be with us. It was much less prevelant back when society was "conservative".

Either way, gangs will always exist, no matter what. Just banning games online from the country won't do shit at all.
