Chipset 890GX or 990FX or perhaps even 970 ?

Hi, i was asking myself if it could be worthwhile to upgrade from 890GX chipset to 990FX or perhaps 870.
I am running a Phenom II X6 1045T (8GB 1600 DDR3) with Arctic A30 which will fit into newer chipset's MB. In the future i would also like to upgrade to newer AMD's CPU. Will there be any future for this socket? Will I get any performance gain? And at the end any advice in terms of specific MB.

Today I would probably get ASRock's 990FX Extreme6 but I looked also at GA-990FXA-UD3 of GIGABYTE, ASRock's AM3+ 970 Performance and ASRock's Mod SoAM3+ 990FX Killer.

No real performance gains at all beyond what the speedboost the high end fx processors offer just from their high clock rates.
AMD has long since said they aren't competing with Intel in the high end cpu market. They have no new AM3+ cpu's in the pipe and the fx9590 is probably the end of the line for its fans, and I am one.

I would say that you should just overclock your thuban core; you should get about 3.4 to 3.8ghz, and Save your money for an Intel build if you game

For my needs i am fine at the moment perhaps in a year or so my thuban could go vishera. And maybe at hte time AMD's politics will be clearer. I think i could do trip to the line getting even the last one! In that case i should orientate on 990FX or 970 chipset, not much of a gamer so not very interessed by PCIE lines and stuff but i like to 'optimize' things.
