Choosing a CPU

Building a gaming rig and last thing I have to decide on is my CPU, tossing up currently between the I5 4690k or the I7 4790k. I know this is a common question and the answer is seemingly almost the I5 as games don't use more than 4 cores. However, after speaking with some people about the games I want to play, Rome 2 and CPU intensive games like it, they said that the I5 wouldn't have enough juice without overclocking and I should go with an I7. Just wondering how true this statement is and if there are games that are beginning to use more than the standard 4 cores? I should mention, I do have the money for an I7, but as I'm sure you would understand, I'd love to put that extra $100 elsewhere
Thanks

No, the i5 is the best gaming CPU. an i7 is an i5 with hyper threading and hyperthreading makes no difference in games right now. i7 should only be considered if you plan on doing a decent amount of editing/rendering sort of work.
