We've created this tool called a Piki to help you find the peripherals that are right for you, based on your preferences and priorities. We're trying to make the tool comprehensive so that people seeking info on monitors, or keyboards, or mice can get all the facts about the things they're looking into. You can check out lists already made by contributors or customize your own settings to get things just right.

Check out our computer monitors Piki here: http://computer-monitor.pikimal.com/
and our computer mice Piki here: http://computer-mouse.pikimal.com/

We'd really like it if any of the regulars here could check out our tool and let us know if you have any ideas to make it better. We know using the right equipment is essential to a great computer experience and with your help we can make this Piki the perfect place to start your search.

The trouble with creating such a "standardized" way of seeking perepheral advice is that it falls short of exactly what it was created to do. Often times there are multiple catagories in which potential customers want their product to excel in. Generalized listings do not provide enough user input to allow for a list of products that truley match what the customer wants.

That said, if you add all of the required information you will get a search feature like the one found on newegg which would make the piki obsolete. Even with the custom search ability of sites like newegg, complete with user ratings, sometimes you can not specify enough what you want product-wise.

For example, on a forum such as this you might be able to ask for a product matching the specifications you want AND conforms to your choice of aesthetics, reliability, ease-of-use, build quality and other such subjective things that are not easily researched.

In the end although it is a novel concept, there are better sources of information available.
