I am using an amd asus chromebook with standard OS(running linux takes an intel processor). I'm trying to connect to my home desktop, but the network im using is a school wifi and has the standard port blocked. With the standard chrome app there are no options for setting a port configuration. I havent looked into Vpns yet, but wondering what my options could be.

Side Option: I have an android phone that came base att, but is on a tmobile network. I have tethering available, but since the phone was originally att it's configured for att and would require root access to be able to allow it to work "naturally". I have also looked into apps to allow me to tether to the chromebook, but it still requires an app on the chromebook end to be installed.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
VPN would be probably the easiest to setup. If your Chromebook is running ChromeOS, consider installing vanilla Linux on it, and get away with CHromeOS restrictions.
