I have a router with Gargoyle Firmware and an attached pen drive which I'm using as a storage server. Problem is that the unit I'm mapping in windows 7 is not working the same as the pc hard drive in regard to a programs function. The program is database based and it seems that it doesn't work with the files stored in the router the same as if they were in the HD. I have found some evidence that the mapped driver is considered to be "outside" of the local network by windows, but that doesn't make sense, since it's in the same subnet of the network. Windows also gives me a warning when I try to access any file in the router, saying that the author of that file cannot be verified, which furthers confirms that the files are handled as different files than the hd, even they being just copies of the HD files. I would appreciate some help, since I'm completely new to this CIFS stuff. The computer I'm operating on is wirelessly connected to the router, but that shouldn't make a difference in this, since it's 1 meter far from the router and the connection is perfect.
