I recently changed my intel core i3 cpu with an i5 beacouse i3 was badly bottlenecking my r9 380.
Today i got the i5 but i have my motherboard sitting without cpu for a month and it may have some dust in the socket. So i bought a Gembird compressed air duster for cleaning the socket before putting in the i5. It contains 100% DME, is it safe for cleaning cpu socket on motherboard with this???

Solution
It should be fine. Make sure the system is powered off and unplugged for a short period of time before dusting it. You should not need to blast it for long. Dust and particulates actually getting into the socket holes is minimal, unless you've emptied the contents of a vacuum onto the socket or something.

If it turns out that there is dust within the socket. Then it could destroy the CPU. It's your call OP.

My suggestion is do not touch any processor socket pins, you can just install the CPU. If you feel any slowness with CPU, you can partially overclock the processor by increasing the CPU voltage, the partial increased voltage compensates if there is any passivity with socket due to dust or rust ... If you are not convinced, just wait for experts opinion here
