Click, bang, your´e dead.

Question:
I have a IBM60gxp hd and sometimes it´s making clicking sounds, during this "click-period" I´m not doing anything particular with the computer, not playing games or running any programs, what is the cause of this?
I´ve read that clicking sounds (loud) is a indication of harddrive failure in the gxp75 family...but is it true even for the 60gxp´s?

Well I'm not an IBM guru, but I would replace it if it made an abnormal noises. I have seen posts where they think the 60GXP's are having the same issues. If so that's a bad thing for IBM.

It´s not like it happens very often, perhaps only once per week or so and it only lasts for a few seconds...
Hmm, guess I´m to worried!
(when it clicks it sounds like my old harddrive, which is a loud one compared to the gxp which makes no noise at all (almost)!)

Clicking sounds can be an indication of impending drive failure, regardless of the brand and series.

Have you downloaded and run the IBM Drive Fitness tools and verified the integrity of the drive?
