Question Clicking noise from PC when playing Total Warhammer 2 ?

Hey all,

Can anyone please identify this noise coming from my PC when playing a certain game (Total War Warhammer 2)?

Is this GPU? CPU? SSD? PSU?

Quick specs are here, can provide more if needed:
i5-8600k (overlocked to 4.8, stable)
RAM 16GB 3000mhz DDR4
GTX 1080
MSI Z370
SanDisk SD8SN8U-512G-1122 X400 512 GB M.2 (separate for games, windows is on another one)
XFX PRO550W

The system is fully stable and previously tested extensively with prime95, 3dmark, furmark and multiple games in ultra settings. All components are about 4-5 years old, the PSU is from around 2014 though.

Any ideas? Only in this game obviously.

Does the ticking only occur at particular times? On loading screens, in battle, on the campaign map etc..

If you take the side off your case, maybe you can get your ear in closer to try and isolate the origin of the sound?

My best guess is it is something being triggered by a fan reaching a certain speed under a specific load. This happened to me at one point, either the fan screw was too loose or too tight, can't remember which. Adjusting it fixed it for me though. Other than that, I couldn't tell ya.
