I had 5 HDD's in my main PC and one was a clone of my boot drive after a fresh install to make it easier to recover after any issues. I did some drive shuffling and removed that drive from my PC about a year ago and put it on a shelf. My main PC had one of the free copies of windows 10 pro 64 bit that was offered to win 7 users a while back.

Fast forward to about a week ago and I built another PC using some spare parts and the HDD in question. My intention was to install Ubuntu, since it is a free OS, and use the machine strictly for torrent downloads. I booted up the spare PC that I built and realized that the cloned copy of windows was fully functioning. It even updated itself without any issues.

Now to the issue at hand....I thought that my old windows 7 pro activation key was what allowed me to get one free copy of windows 10 pro and was subject to the same limitations of the original OS. That being only usable on one PC. Do I somehow have another legit working copy?
