Cloning page file on another disk?

Dear all,

I have Acronis 10.? and use it to clone my system drive. I prefer to clone as it is bootable and I have the space to do it. I am re-setting up my PC from scratch and want to prepare for the most painless way to clone back in the event of an emergency and not waste time.

I have two raptor drives (36gigs each) and several 320gb hdds. I am putting the OS and the games on one 320 and want to clone just that for simplicity.

That said, I currently have my page file on one of the raptors just to help a little.

My problem/question is, is it worth it to have the page file on another disk as when I attempt to clone the OS back (if this original goes bad) and say one of the raptors is gone, or for some reason, the PC can't find the drive assignments properly (or I forgot where I put it etc) will windows be able to figure it out? Will it cause problems or shoud I just leave the page file on the main OS hdd?

Clones are great, ask Jengo Fett. His son rocked actually.

Windy for a question, but I hope it communicates.

Any thoughts welcome.

Acronis doesn't store the pagefile in the clone image. It only store the file names (pagefile.sys) as a place-holder. Windows will then recreate the pagefile where the place-holder is.

So here's one solution :
I suggest that you create a minimal paging file (let's say half the size of your RAM) on the OS HDD. That way, when you clone back the OS on the HDD it might not find the page file on the raptor but he'll be able to work with the one created on his HDD.

Thanks HyperBlade,

I did not know that acronis did record the page file. Your suggestion appears to be perfect and gives me the peace of mind I am looking for.

Thank you very much and have a good one,
