Thus, 2-way SMT per core (I could only assume).

Unless it is really a 64-thread beast.

The other vialble alternative is Suns 'Scout Ahead' makes up for it only being 2-way SMT per core, as each core is now much more advanced (Much better branch prediction, etc - a total backflip from older SPARC designs).

Could be interesting.

I don't really have time to read most of this thread... not that i would want to :p But am i the only person here that has read the 2cpu.com and Anandtech review of this platform? I found the tomshardware article to be a horrible waste of time... pretty much as expected

lol, yeah. sorry, i was thinking of a review on another site... i cant seem to find it.... maybe ill look later. you should check out the 2cpu.com review though, its much better than toms
