Anybody know where the problem lies here?

xp sp2
64bit 3700
radeon 9700 pro

Im not running the latest drivers for my gfx card, with the latest ones I have trouble getting the card to recognize the native resolution of my wide screen monitor. I also heard its best to stick to drivers that were released a few months to half a year after your card was released. Will I have to install the latest drivers to loose that error message or is the problem elsewhere?

Cheers

I'm not entirely sure you could always try, and if it doesnt work go back to your current drivers

or the game doesnt support your card :( which is unlikely

ah i see, just checked out the min requirements and now you come to mention it:

Required (minimum) Specs
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.4 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) 64 2800+ processor or any 1.8Ghz Dual Core Processor or better supported
RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space
Video card: NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 6600 or better or ATI(R) Radeon(R) 9800 Pro or better

Oops, looks like the 9700pro doesn't even meet the min requirements of new games anymore.
