Thanks... that's actually more than I wanted which is good.

I just don't see any advantages to getting a Core 2 Duo this early anymore. The costs just keep piling up due to retailer mark-ups that it's not even worth it. Not only that, but with no R600 mobo (or any other high end mobos at the moment). It just doesn't seem like a smart idea to get a budget mobo now because even the budget mobos cost ~$150. And the fact that I'd have to upgrade to get the full use of the 1333 FSB isn't helping. I'm not as enthusiastic about Intel's Core 2 as I was initially. I know AMD is the losing side... but that only means that they'll have to try hard to keep up with Intel and Intel won't let them have it so easily this time. Either way, it's a good time to buy a PC.:)

Now I just need to figure out what to do about my E6300 preorder in case I do decide against it.

Since Kentsfield is gonna be released this Q4 I believe is gonna be 1066mhzFSB and as well Intel might have an Extreme Edition with 1333mhz FSB released together with the Core 2 Duo Extreme with 1333mhz FSB too.

woot!!! yesterday the tiger direct in illinois naperville has oem e6600... I have mine and will be finishing setup tonight on it. I will post some actual bechmarks of my system.

I have the:

bad axe v3.04
e6600
2gb dual channel 4-4-4-12 pc 6400 800mhz ram
80 gb sata hard drive by hitach
ati x1800xt

built all for under 1000 😀

here is the model num you will need to get the oem.. people there are stupid and have no clue .
cp2-duo-e6600

Really cool!

I am not sure why, but as soon as I get my hands on one, here in Sweden, I will probably go for the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe board.
I so want an E6600 too :)

I want to go CrossFire with mine.

(I'm building two, one for me, and one for my wife)

We just ordered two Samsung 242MP monitors as well (24" Widescreen)

I just -CAN'T- wait...

have there been any benchmarks for distributed.net's rc5-72?

amd cpu's have always been superior to intel when running rc5. i wonder if the tables have turned now that conroe is out?

Coolaler has pushed his Conroe to 5.5GHz and got a 9.000second SuperPi_1M run. He is a truly talented overclocker with a truly amazing chip. Check it:

Does this mean that Intel has the best overclocking board on the market right now for the Conroe Processor????

I always liked Intel boards because of how stable they were. Now this is certainly a suprise to me. I had heard that the Vreg on the board had been tested up to 211 amps loading without reaching any electrical or thermal limits of the actual FET's. They would have tried to go higher but the active loading tool maxed out at 211 amps. So taking the equation Watts = Volts x Current.

The Bad Axe board Vreg can support a power loading of: 264 Watts
Assuming Vcore - 1.25V

I find that number pretty amazing!

Didn't really deserve a new thread.

GamePC reviews the E6400 and E6300. Supposedly those 2 low-end models are available in larger quantities than the higher ones. They easily overclocked the E6400 to 2.68GHz using the stock cooler on stock voltage. As others have found the E6300 pars or exceeds the X2 4200+ at a lower price. The E6400 is stronger than the X2 4600+, but they didn't review the X2 5000+ although the E6400 is very competitive against that.

wow thats amazing...i ran 3d mark on my computer..it almost blew up...im running a p4 2.4 1 gig of ram 256 fx5500 agp ecs mobo, and i got an 400 rating...: ( but hey im only 15 and jobless : )

lol..well..if you want performance..and budget go with e6600 if you want budget go with e6300 but now im kinda confused..i could just spend less and get an amd x2 , does anyone have benchmarks with all the x2's and core 2? including the 2mb cache ones?

There are plenty of benchmark links on this thread...

thanks you

ps alexander , i read that..it doesnt include lower models.

What you might want to do is get a e6400 and overclock it to a bit past an e6600, or if you think that the cache laking will cause bottlenecking, at most invest in a e6600 and overclock it past e6700.

hmm mk the only thing im worried about is temps when it comes to oc'ing them, becusae im only 15 and im sur they dont give out good free stock coolers, and i will prolly only have the money for a psu, cpu, mobo and ram, i only make about80 bucks a week and right now i have no s[are money cuz of school coming up

alright thanks jack, i was wondering too, instead of an e6400 could i puhrchease an e6300 and just oc it to like 2.5? or do you think that would be too much?
