Same here, Artmic. My x6800 is damn fast. Not only that but I convinced my lab to get some Woodcrst machines, so now I'm Core 2 across the board.
I will likely be starting a Kentsfield/Cloverton thread soon.
Cheers!
How is your CPU holding up? Mine is still fast, although boot time got slower by half a second, too much crap loaded in the registry already.
The only complaints i have is not with the X6800, but with the way Intel will release follow-up versions of the Core 2 Duo's... instead of releasing faster version like this: 3.2Ghz and a 3.4Ghz part. they will be releasing a 3Ghz part with a faster Bus speed. how cool is that? Intel = Arseholes.
They are releasing crap, they are making the same stupid mistake as they did before, only this time i dont' understand why they are reverting back to their stupidity.
The same goes for the Quad core part, they could easily release a 3Ghz Quad part, but they choose to be the good old intel we all know... 2.66Ghz, anyone with a DualCore OC'd to 3.5Ghz+ isn't going to go back in speed to a 2.66Ghz Quad version lol, that would be moronic. Besides, I wonder how non engineering samples of the quads will hold up to over clocking, you got 4 cores on the die, will they all pass the overclock with the same stability? I doubt it.
Unless they release a 3.6Ghz Quad i have no intention of getting one. so that means i'd have to wait 2+ years or more, since Intel is moving so slowly with their speed increases.
it seems once intel regains their superiority, thay ease up on the evolution of their product. I bet if amd makes a superior chip again, intel will put on the afterburners again.
