APPLE COMPUTERS ARE GOD!!!! Put up your firewalls. Watch your software install. You pathetic PC users keep updating your spyware, malware, or virii engines. Scanning your hard drives all day. Using your utilities only to find out that you are the god damned disease of this world. And do realize the cheap PC crap that you own YOU DESERVE!!! May Microsoft bless you with more of it's crapware$$$$$$$. Windows 7. That will pull more money out of your wallet in the long run once they infect your system with the new Internet Explorer. Us rich smart people can live without your problems and at the end of the day we can only look back at what we accomplished. MORE MONEY IN OUR POCKET!!! BAH HAHAHA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA.

How can you be an internet troll without the internet, leave msgs on peoples computers? Join a book club and lie? write slanderious news articles?

I got this from another website:

My favorite reader comment:

“We don't hate on Macs, we hate on the stupid arguments that are put forth by the Apple faithful, and their derision of anything non-Apple.

We hate the arguments that somehow Apple gives you better quality hardware for the higher prices, when the hardware is the same as any Windows computer.

We hate the arguments that Microsoft is evil for some reason, but when Apple does the same, it is perfectly fine (e.g. activation of Windows vs. activation of an iPhone, or how Intel had unique identifiers in their chips accessible by software, but when they do the same in the iPhone - not a problem).

We hate the arguments that Microsoft is evil when 10 year old hardware is not supported (such as when Vista was released), but when Apple cuts support for 3 year old printers in Leopard, it is the user's fault for not owning the latest hardware.

We hate the arguments that problems with 3rd party hardware drivers it is the fault of Microsoft, but when Apple has problems with 3rd party hardware drivers, it is the hardware manufacturer's fault.

We hate the arguments that Apple never has any problems, but when a problem appears (such as not being able to activate a phone for hours), the user is at fault for not knowing the proper way of using a Mac, just plain stupid, or hate.

We hate the arguments when Microsoft services go down for an hour or two (such as Zune last week), it is said Microsoft provides horrible service and it is a Engadget front page mockery of Microsoft. But when iTunes goes down (http://www.tuaw.com/2009/07/07/itunes-store-and-app-store-problems/) nothing is said, and it really is not a problem.

We hate the argument that before the iPhone, the number of applications available for a platform does not make a difference, it is the quality of the software. After the iPhone is released, all that matters is the number of applications available.

We hate the argument that somehow Apple hardware will last forever, but other computers last only a year or two (this argument is used in this very article). I am typing on a 5 year old Dell laptop, how long does an iPod last?

We hate the argument that somehow Microsoft limits user choice, when many people use non-Microsoft products. But when Apple limits choice (such as installing alternative browsers on an iPhone), it is in the user's best interest.

We hate the arguments that Microsoft keeps control over their products, but you need to jump through hoops just to develop for the iPhone.

We hate the arguments that Microsoft releases poor products that do not work and you need to wait for SP2 for it to be useful, is MobileMe working yet?

We hate the arguments that Microsoft does not deliver what was promised, Apple is just now delivering push notification - a year after it was promised.

We hate how some say everything was invented, created, designed, or innovated by Apple first, and everybody creates cheap knock-offs of Apple, when there is proof of it being done years before by other companies.

We hate the arguments that products such as Tablets, Netbooks, etc. are useless crap, but rumored products such as the Apple Tablet, or Netbook will be the savior of man.

We hate the argument that somehow opening a store, something that has existed for 1000s of years since somebody found they could trade a basket of vegetables for a chicken, is an Apple creation, and from now on no other company is permitted to open stores.

And, among the many others (but the last I will list), we hate the argument that somehow Apple is allowed to air commercials that lie about Microsoft and Apple's own products, but when Microsoft airs commercials that are true (a Windows computer is lower priced than an Apple computer), somehow Microsoft is evil and must stop now.

So no, we do not hate Apple - I have a Mac, an iPod, and iPhone. We just get sick of the pathetic fanboys who attack anybody who do not drink the kool-aid and do not give glowing reviews of anything Apple.”

Mostly I saw on Tom these comments...

This is really surprising news. The majority of computer buyers do not buy Macs ... wow, that would FINALLY explain the single digit market share...

Not sure anyone else ever used my reasoning, but I bought my macbook because of the aluminum case and the glass screen. I am rough on my computers and you can't buy a laptop as durable for the price.....all of my previous sub $1k laptops could not hold up to heavy wear and tear (because they are plastic). But on the other hand I love PCs and I love Macs....I use a PC as my desktop!!! I guess I'm saying to the survey...Who cares?

almost everybody at my high schol has a mac and i only know maybe 5 other people out of 500 that know how to even replace a graphics card. the rest dont know aboslutely shit. maybe im won but it is how it is here

[citation][nom]deadlockedworld[/nom]I graduated this spring... Macs represented approximately 30-40% of student laptops. While that's not a majority, they clearly have a more significant market share among students and young professionals than other areas. Like Jobs keeps saying.. .they dont need volume to make billions--Apple's goal is to be the BMW to Dell's Toyota.[/citation]

You compare Apple to a BMW?!! lol You must be a college grad working for minimum wage. Then comparing Dell to Toyota?! Do you wipe your ass when you finish speaking?

[citation][nom]Maxor127[/nom]That's why you use their education program to get a discount. I'll be surprised if other brands don't have something similar.[/citation]
I'm pretty sure most of them do. But the Apple education discounts aren't that stellar, and neither are most of those for other makers. A savvy Mac enthusiast actually pays LESS than the Apple education discount offer for a new Mac. I was more than slightly pissed when my parents bought a Mac (which I had encouraged them to do*) but had paid full Apple suggested retail price at Best Buy--even after I had given them a list of places online to price-shop for a better deal.

If you're willing to pay a higher price for the BMW to Dell's Volkswagen, all the more power to you. But I think anyone who is willing to accept the MSRP of anything expensive without doing their homework first deserves to get ripped off, particularly when they ignore the advice of someone trying to steer them away from spending too much.

*It made sense for what they were going to use it for and what technical issues they were having in the past (mostly difficulty navigating the more technical areas of the OS). They basically needed an easy mode. And in all honesty, why shouldn't they have one if they can afford it?

Kids are getting smarter, I guess.

Apple, BMW, Harley Davidson, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc. etc. - brands that charge way too much, only exist because of their "exclusivity" perception, and for which there are almost always cheaper and better alternatives.

[citation][nom]waffle911[/nom]Dell's Volkswagen[/citation]

Sorry to nitpick here, but Volkswagens run longer than 80% of other cars on the road. The same cannot be said of most Dell PC's.

Dell is more along the line of a Geo, 90's Kia's, or the smell that all Fords make that smells like burning oil and engine parts.

[citation][nom]speedshutters[/nom]"majority of college-bound students"..."300+ surveyed"/rolleyes[/citation]

*sigh* when you do a survey or a study, getting the sample size correct yields more accurate results than just "as many people as possible" if I recall correctly, there are only a couple thousand ppl involved in calculating TV ratings.

"mcnuggetofdeath 08/21/2009 5:05 PM
lol. to the above. 300 does not a survey make. I know that im starting my freshman year of college this semester,..."

actually it does
make sure you take a statistics course

[citation][nom]Pei-chen[/nom]They will buy Apple and wear women's jean as soon as their liberal professors get through them. Higher education institutions in the US are basically assimilation camps that churn out liberal dimwits that lack critical thinking skills. The only saving grace is that they’ll turn back into “normal” people by TV and a few years at home after graduation.[/citation]

Give it a rest already. There is so much BS in this blanket statement it makes my head hurt. I graduated from one of the so-called "liberal institutions" and about 20% of my professors were conservative, the other 20-25% liberal and the other 55-60% were more in the middle ground and only cared about teaching the topic at hand, not political beliefs.

Personally, I'm in the middle. Both sides make me sick, especially those spewing tired, old and false rhetoric such as yourself.

The professors that pushed their beliefs the most on students while I was in college 10 years ago? The conservative professors. However, since a lot of the classes are taught by student teachers/teacher aids, you don't really have any ideology pushed on you.

Seriously, stop your propaganda garbage already and get with the program, it's not the 60-70's anymore. The "red menace" is not at our doorsteps.

People like you are just as bad as the people you're railing so hard against. You're just as "brainwashed" as the idiots you hate on the other "side".

I know most of you don't have any clue about statistics or sampling, but 300 is actually a really good sample size and will give a pretty accurate representation of the population (assuming they didn't selective sample or run into anything along those lines).

Anyway, it doesn't surprise me. Macs are nice computers, but PC are just more reasonably priced and there really isn't anything a Mac can do that a PC can't that your average college student will be doing.

College kids buying MAC's was only a hype that is fading as of late. MAC had the momentum going a year ago that it was "cool" to have a MAC at college. Now that this momentum is wearing off It makes me look back to last years presidential election where I noticed a similar trend. The majority of students who were going to/did vote for Obama couldn't really explain why they were voting for him. It was just the cool thing to do as a college student. I hate Bush, Things can't get worse,etc... These were the basic run around answers you would hear from the well educated youth. My point being... Macs are the same way among college kids. Most students can't tell you why they have or need a Mac they will merely say... I hate PC's, they can't be much worse then PC's, Everyone in college has one... Again, no definitive answer, just alot of blah blah blah run around.

98/100 Computers assembled today are PC's
95% of businesses use PC's

Wouldn't it be smart for a college kid to keep up With PC technology that they will be using throughout their careers? Most employees don't care if you can can make a sweet guitar rift using garage band, but the do care how efficient you are using Microsoft Excel.
