Question Come back to black screen with PC still running... Refuses to turn off... Again...

I've been having this for long enough that its starting to bother me. I go away to eat dinner or something and when I come back the screen has shut off, but its all still on and running except mouse and keyboard + headphones for some reason. When I try to turn it off with the power button nothing happens. I have to unplug or turn off the UPS to shutdown and restart. When I check event viewer I don't get any useful info, only that there was unexpected shutdown...

Are you sure its not going into a sleep mode? a lot of times only hitting the Escape key will wake them back up

Yes I am pretty sure it is not sleep mode, it didn't do this before and like I said keyboard shuts off... Doesn't do anything if I try typing
