Tuan, if you have any interest in suing this guy, to get the suit started let me know... a paypal donation or two could be arranged. I'd be entertained to see what kind of trouble you can get the company into. Frauds like this run rampant on the internet, and I think we're all at danger of being screwed by online purchases (I myself, twice).

Just checked out the website and have some comments about there "Green" page and why I think they are Green or not green

"1.Our manufacturing processes use minimal fossil fuels in production and delivery"
-They don't manufacture anything so it's easy to be green

"2.There is minimal waste in the production of MacPadds and any residual materials are recycled"
-Can't have trash if you're not making anything

"3.Our mouse padd will last well beyond any neoprene mouse pad in the market today"
-Never existed so it's hard to prove this one. And it says "mouse padd" as a singular. So there has probably only been one ever made.

"5.MacPadd consists of no brominated flame retardants (BFR) components
unlike all other mouse pads in the market"
-Seriously? It's a piece of Aluminum

"6.All materials we use are from recycled sources and can be recycled or reused by our customers (i.e. bubble wrap containers)"
-I'm confused. Bubble wrap containers?

"7.Our use of an online store does not contribute the creation of buildings and their use of materials that stresses the environment"
-Translation. I run this stupid website out of my darkened apartment and order these things from a fabrication shop after I get at least 5 orders because the fab shop won't make any less than 5. I then glue a piece of neoprene to the bottom of the pad. If I don't get at least 5 order I pocket the money and never ship the order.

"8.Our shipping takes a little longer but it uses existing transportation infrastructure that ships to the masses and reduces the carbon impact."
-I don't have a car and have to wait until my buddy goes into town and hopefully I can catch a ride with him so I can take these pieces of crap to the post office. If I can't accomplish that. I stand along the highway trying to find someone going your way so you can receive your package. That's why there is no tracking number.

I was with you all the way up until you began complaining about the tracking number. As an American you clearly are not aware of the public shipping company that is Canada Post and evidently it is your first time using them.

I have run a small business in Canada and used them as my primary shipper for a wile, and what you describe is COMPLETELY normal.

1) Unlike the USA. They do NOT ship or move on weekends. Being a government subsidiary they have a 9-5 business schedule, hence the term "snail mail".

2) Their tracking system is useless. This is ESPECIALLY true if an order has been "electronically" submitted. It is unlikely to show ANY update until the package actually reaches its destination. Even then, I have had packages that have been delivered and still show "Information Submitted" or "Packaged Left at Location" without ever confirming they were delivered.

3) The Oct3rd thing seems a little strange - maybe like an old tracking #. BUT I can't say it would be outside the realm of Canada Post's garbage tracking system. I have seen packages tracked in the "future" (the date as ahead of the date it actually was by 2-3 days....) so going backwards isn't that hard to imagine.

Overall I agree with the disgusting and questionable service you received. However, us Canadians have learned to put up with a 2 week wait time to get products due to the postal system. American's are far to spoiled expecting things in a week or less.

What have we learned today?

1. Don't buy anything from QMS Inc./MacPadd.com

2. Don't mess with a Tom's Hardware writer/reviewer.

Right now on the MacPadd home page you car read the following:

"Best of Media employee provides selected
information and displays poor conduct & ethics"

And below there's a PDF document that I try to open but it's corrupted.

Ya I saw that too, funny thing is the complaint links to Apple.com haha. And the PDF is busted. This guy is freaking out big time because he knows his business reputation is fucked!

You were lucky with Paypal & eBay. My experience is not as good.
I once ordered a raid controller from eBay. On arrival, I noticed I had been sent the non-raid version. After confirmation by the manufacturer, I wrote the company. They immediately changed they ad on ebay... they remove the product's picture and continued to sell it under the wrong model!!!!
I contacted ebay and paypal multiple times about the scam and they did absolutely nothing. The only way for me to get reimbursed was to send back the product at my own cost.
Result: 3 scammers - that company, eBay, Paypal (who ensures you that they insure you at 100%... not true).

Yeah I saw that too.

Sigh, if you recently visited their website their declaring war, which means I'm dusting off my low orbit ion cannon.

[citation][nom]jerfle[/nom]Back to the 37 business day processing thing. You have 45 days to dispute a payment with PayPal. Do the math. Thirty seven day processing, 6-7 days shipping. That's 42 days. So he could stall you for the 3 days. What a rip-off.[/citation]

Actually it's worse than that, 37 "business" days would be 7 weeks and 2 days, assuming mon-fri are business days. So if you only have 45 days to dispute the claim, that's a minimum of 51 days (depending on if you bought on a weekday or weekend) before the order even has to be processed.

I wish I worked for a review site where I could report the companies that screwed me over the years... :)

Wow...you should really see through that he has to face the correct authorities for fraud and or severe judicial punishment for such bad business practices (if they even qualify under business), not to mention incredibly poor treatment of the customer, let alone his obviously apparent mental rage issues ^_^

yea, sorry, that's a small company. I've actually had the problem with ASUS and their rebate company that they deal with here in Canada. Same thing. Constantly call and you get voicemail. Leave a message and never get a response. Constant e-mail and I think I only got one response back on that, then nothing. And this is ASUS.

His complete lack of professionalism will be the end of his company. Oh, and the fact that he's a complete dumbass.

He's a an entire letter of explanation now on his home page. He's slamming Tuan and calling him a "Customer from hell". He also says he has reported Tuan to the police. Unbelievable! Who would buy anything from a web site with a letter like that on it's home page? So if I pay you for a product then complain because you lie about the shipping and provide poor customer service you're going to call the friggen Mounties on me? No thanks. I'll stick to Newegg provided products from quality manufacturers like Razor and Belkin.

I hate hearing about experiences like this. I work at a large grocery store, and we do our best to make sure the customer leaves happy. Hearing about a company that flaunts things like customer service and then blatantly disregards its claims makes it harder for the customer to trust the rest of us.

"Ethical
Professional and ethical treating others the way we would want to be treated" - from http://www.macpadd.com/macpadd/About_Us.html

"I forgot, and I'm having a drink with my wife."
"Get out of my f***ing life!"
"Have you thought of getting emotional therapy? Your are truly a disturbed person and your correspondence will be sent to the CEO. Get a life you are truly disturbed person."

I couldn't stop laughing =)
good job!

Dear Sting3r11,
I haven't posted in a long time, but you sir are in need of a talking to. Just because you have decided to LET the Canada Post give you poor service doesn't mean other people will put up with the poor service delivered by them. The year is 2009. I understand we don't have flying cars and handheld laser beam weapons, but if I pay someone to track my goods as the items are shipped they better do it.

For the other people crying about this being a tech site and only write tech articles, blah blah. Wow here is Tom's hardware trying to help out the tech community. Holy crap someone doing something nice out of their normal day so other people dont get ripped off.

Now these are the kind of reviews I love. We can only hope they go out of business. Total lack of scruples.

[citation][nom]tapher[/nom]Did you get a tracking number from paypal for the refund?[/citation]

I still have yet to receive a tracking number.

/ Tuan
