Compaq Presario 5420US

I just replaced the MOBO in a Compaq Presario 5420US with the same make MOBO, a UWAVE3. I am unable to install Win2K Pro or WinXP Pro but I can install Win98SE. When I try to load the Win2k OR XP they both stall at the "starting windows" screen. I have no problem installing Win98SE, it installs fins and boots right up but the Win2K and XP are a problem. I have even tried doing a upgrade from Win98SE but stil run into the same issue.

I have tried different HD's, changing the connector ribbons, changing the jumper settings on the HD's but still nothing and even changing out the MOBO with another UWAVE3.

Anyone have any suggestions?

OH, by the way it has a AMD XP 1700 processot and 512mb SDRAM DVD player and CDRW.

While you are in windows, put the xp disc in, and get it to do a compatability check.
