I have a Presario SR5023WM desktop with a M2N68-LA Ivy motherboard. According to HP page for my PC it says my upgrade is up to Athlon X2 4800. I am assuming this is what was the latest compatible processor at the time was. Can anyone tell me if there is a quadcore that is compatible with this motherboard, or if not what the best dual core I can upgrade to is?

Some of the specs I am fairly sure are important to the mobo/cpu working in conjuction 65tdp, Socket AM2, DDR 2 for the RAM I have installed.

If it helps here is the link to my mobo info page

That is helpful, it seems someone has used a processor 5600 which is better than the 4800 on my info page.

Still if anyone knows about a better processor that mobo can handle I would love to know about it

Ok I haven't had a lot of sleep...work 3rds...have a small child..etc...

I went to check my Bios version and it says Version 5.02 went to the HP page and didnt find an update for the Bios...if anyone can point me in the correct direction I would be very very happy.

This little quest to boost my performance may end up with me building a new pc..or scrapping out the mobo/cpu in this one...I have already replaced the HD, RAM, Power Supply, and have a graphics card added (nothing fancy but gets the basics done).oh yea and a snazzy new monitor..been looking at some mobo/cpu combos on eBay and newegg. I could probably seriously upgrade my experience fairly cheaply (providing I choose something compatible with my already purchased upgrades

Once again thanks Johnnyb105
