Hello all,

I have an old configuration and in order to play some of the 2017 game I want to upgrade my graphic card and my RAM

My current configuration is :
Mother Board : https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T/specifications/
CPU : http://ark.intel.com/products/37147/Intel-Core-i7-920-Processor-8M-Cache-2_66-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI
GPU : https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/R6950_Twin_Frozr_III_Power_EditionOC.html#hero-specification
RAM : 6GB of http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/tr3x3g1600c8d

And I want to upgrade to :
GPU : http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/480-8.html
RAM : 8GB (or 16GB) of http://www.corsair.com/en-ww/vengeance-low-profile-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cml8gx3m2a1600c9

Before buy it, I want to be sure the new GPU and RAM will be compatible with my old Mother board and CPU ?
And will the new GPU be limited by the CPU ?

Could you help me with this ?
thanks for your help.

PS : Sorry for my english, it's not my native language

The memory will work, but you should get a quad channel kit or two dual channel kits (you have 3 channels on that system). The GPU might have some issues, but that's unlikely.

You may also want to pick up an aftermarket cooler and overclock that CPU. It's from the golden age of overclocking, and can support up to 40% overclocks without sacrificing long term reliability. I've got a i7-930 that's been running at 3.9 GHz for nearly 5 years on a cheap aftermarket cooler.

Thanks for your help.
I have buy my new GPU and new RAM and everything work fine.

The only notable "issue" is my bios which revert to the manufacturing configuration when I plug the new GPU, but the only change I have made was the language and the boot order, so it was not very hard to come back to my configuration !!

My CPU seems to be work fine without overclock, but I will rememeber the overclocking option if I need it later!!

thanks again.
