Question computer boots past bios but then screen blank

I assembled a new motherboard, CPU and RAM. No graphics card yet - just using Intel on board graphics for now (i7 9th gen).

When I power on the display is fine and I can configure the BIOS. Everything is great.

The system then boots (last code 99) and the screen blanks and disc spins. However there is now nothing on the display.

Any ideas? It's perplexing me!
