Dear All,

I'm coming with a problem I can't figure out how to fix.

It started about few weeks ago, to which I'm unsure about the root cause.
This can happen when gaming/streaming or just without any activity (such as watching youtube)

What happens on this "crash" process:
  1. The sound will switch off by itself
  2. A few seconds later, the video (so, a game and/or youtube) will freeze

Now, the interesting part: This is not a typical crash, as I keep control of my mouse and keyboard ( so any Windows key + shortcut) or any move with the mouse are registered.
However, starting for example Task manager will make the software not to work if trying to get into "processes"
I can run command prompt but won't be able to write anything.

I tried to see if by not touching anything it would solve itself (such as a random stutter) but no.
If trying the Ctrl+Alt+Del --> Reboot: it will stay in a loop and not restart

The only way to get out of this is by forcing the shutdown and then starting the computer again.

What I tried so far:
  1. Cleaning the computer
  2. Check on the connectics and rearranging the cabling
  3. Run hard drives checks
  4. Run sfc /scannow --> First time repaired few files but since then doesn't show any violation
  5. Checked online (haven't seen any similar situation)
So far, over the last 3 weeks, it recorded 9 events of forced shutdown, which are happening between on a range of every day to every 4 days (but the average is every 2 days), the link to the screenshot: https://ibb.co/YRGtb8B

All drivers are up to date, same as Windows.

Hi Lutfij,

Thanks for your reply.

Regarding the PSU: EVGA 600W ATX, 80 PLUS bought in March 2017 (so 4 years old)

I will try with the ram (and updating the BIOS), although it never recorded any error since the rebuild back in November 2020)

Bad PSU for the PC, bad RAM configuration for Ryzen. Replace the PSU for a decent unit and only use 2 or 4 RAM sticks. RAM is also way to slow for Ryzen. You want 3200 MT/s, at least.

Hey !

Thanks for your input.

I would agree if this issue would have started a year ago, however this only started about 3 weeks ago.
The only thing I'm thinking of would be either a Windows update or after installing Cyberghost VPN, but I don't see how this would impact it as not online.

But anyway on the RAM side, I do agree I should go with a 2x8 or 2x16

Coming back to this, it looks this is actually related to the HID-compliant headset.

When looking at event, this is the one crashing the computer, and seems to be related to one of the latest Windows update.
(HyperX Cloud II USB headset)

One sure thing is that it continues on Windows 11 as well.
