Hi, A few days ago my computer started crashing when playing call of duty ghosts, I thought the problem was with ghosts and not my computer because of all the problems that the game has. However, today I was playing Bf4 and the same thing happened so now I am starting to think that there could be a problem with my graphics card or possibly the drivers. This is the first time it has happened when playing Bf4, usually I can play for hours with no problems. It will be running fine then all of a sudden my screens will change to a random color then I will have to turn off my computer. I recently changed the fan on my 660 ti to an accelero twin turbo ii and the temps don't go above 50 so I know it's not overheating. I have tried reinstalling the latest drivers and also going back to old ones and its still crashing. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or any suggestions on how to fix it?

I took a picture so you can see what happens.

Were you having temperature issues with your 660Ti SC before changing the installed cooler? How about problems in games before you switched coolers? Does the Accelero Twin Turbo II have any contact with the RAM on the graphics card, or is that left to cool itself? Have you any means of determining the temperature of your RAM chips on the card? Are you overclocking your graphics card at all? This would matter more for the RAM, since in the pictures of your cooler it doesn't appear that it cools the RAM at all. Might be worth down clocking the RAM to see if your problems diminish or go away. Just because your GPU core temperature is low, doesn't mean your RAM temperatures are where they should be for happy operation.

No I wasn't having any issues before changing the cooler it was just making a lot of noise so I changed it. When I installed it I think I put heat spreaders on top of the ram to stop it from overheating, but there was a few I had to leave off to in order for it to fit. I am not sure how to check the temperatures of the ram, atm I am just using gpu-z to check the temps of the card. I haven't overclocked the card. How would I go about down clocking the ram?

I'm not sure, as I haven't run NVIDIA for a while now, but I'm sure it's possible. Another possible test would be to swap back the original cooler, however, if you've used any sort of thermal adhesive, you may be best advised not to try prying it off, or be extremely careful, or risk damaging the card.

There are lots of NVIDIA users on the forums here, so hopefully somebody can jump in with how to down clock the memory speeds for you. 🙂

OK thanks for your help so far. I had to use quite a lot of thermal adhesive to attach the heat spreaders to the ram, so I think I will try down clocking the ram before switching back to the original cooler.
