Hello. I built my little sister an okay computer a year ago, and I came to visit her today and noticed a few problems.
The first one is very easy to explain. When her computer is shutdown, it is impossible to turn it on again immediately. What happens is that the computer attempts to turn on for 0.5-1.0 seconds and then dies (I can hear the fans turn on for a split moment). The more interesting thing is that the computer repeatedly tries to turn itself on unless I remove the plug from the back. Sometimes, the fans are able to continuously spin but there is no display, or sometimes the computer reaches the ASRock splash screen and freezes. The computer can only turn on if it is left alone for ~10 minutes. There is no burning smell. This is the closest thing on the Internet to this problem that I could find: http://superuser.com/questions/198862/motherboard-wont-power-on-until-it-rests-for-10min-with-no-power-plugged-in
The second problem is that I just feel that her computer is sluggish. When her computer turns on, the desktop icons are white generic icons for a noticeable amount of time and even Chrome load slowly at first. Her computer has the following:
Intel's Core i3-3220
ASRock B75M-ITX
Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s
PowerColor PCS+ AX7870 Myst Radeon HD 7870 2 GB
I am going to take a wild guess, but is it most likely because the motherboard is set to 1333 MT/s for memory clock speed while the actual memory used are a 1600 MT/s memory sticks?
Also, most of the computer is modeled after this system builder marathon: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/budget-mini-itx-gaming-pc,3513.html
